Norman N. Axelrod is a principal of Norman N. Axelrod Associates. He completed the PhD. at the University of Rochester in Physics and Optics, and the A.B. at Cornell University; studied at the University of Paris and spent post-doctoral years at the University of London and NASA-Goddard Space Flight Center. He received a certificate in Strategic Planning from the American Management Association. He did R & D at Bell Labratories, Murray Hill, NJ before joining Axelrod Associates. He has identified commercial applications of research results and generated patent applications as a guest/consultant at MBL, Woods Hole since 1993.

On the basis of his outstanding planning & development of new systems, he was Certified by Stature as a Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE) by SME. He is a fellow of AAAS. He was elected to Sigma Xi (science honorary society) and Pi Mu Epsilon (math honorary society).
